Phase 3 (in process): Katherine Huffaker Jones and Therese May, Collaboration: Wiggsy and Voton (stretched) and (quilted), oil on linen, quilted fabric, 1975/76

■ On the left is a painting by Jones, shown in progress. To the right is a quilt by May, a portrait of a mutual friend and her dog. The painting is on linen that has been sewn to match the quilted panels of the original quilt. Once completed, the two works were taken apart at the seams and reassembled so each piece would have both painted and quilted segments, one stretched and hung as a painting and one quilted and hung as a quilt.
